Avec Les Jazztronautes, j’ouvre une nouvelle page de mon carnet de voyage :
Ce groupe réunit des amis et musiciens de grand talent que je côtoie depuis une dizaine d’années. Il y a presque dix ans, nous avions fait quelques dates en club avec Irving, Lukmil et Felipe Cabrera, ébauchant les contours des Jazztronautes.
Depuis, nous nous sommes retrouvés régulièrement dans des contextes divers et notre complicité m’a donné envie de reprendre cette idée de groupe en y ajoutant le piano, tenu par le très talentueux Vincent Strazzieri et Darryl Hall, un grand bassiste avec qui nous nous retrouvons régulièrement aux côtés de Kirk Lightsey.
Au carrefour de Cuba, des US et de la France, la diversité de nos cultures et notre passion pour une langue musicale commune, apporte à notre musique une grande vitalité, une identité singulière et fait d’elle une invitation au voyage …

Irving Acao
Né à Cuba. Il est un Brillant saxophoniste et excellent pianiste aussi, ayant étudié ces deux instruments dans les plus prestigieuse écoles de musique à Cuba. Il est imprégné de la musique des grands du Jazz, tels que Charlie Parker, Mc.Coy Tyner, John Coltrane, et des musiques actuelles et traditionnelles cubaines. Il a tourné avec les grands musiciens cubains tels que Orlando Vallez Maraca, Chucho Valdes, Michel Camillo de Cuba et a aussi avec de grands musiciens américains dont Mc.Coy Tyner, Roy Hardgroove, Danilo Perez. Installé en France depuis 2002, il joue avec Léo Montana, Felipe Cabrera, Stephane Belmondo, Mokhtar Samba, Mario Canonge, Franck Amsallem, Nicolas Folmer, Ray Lema et bien dʼautres encore. Lukmil Perez
Né à la Havane, à Cuba. Il est un batteur dʼexception, également versé en percussions cubaines. Ayant une profonde culture musicale il sʼexprime avec force et fluidité dans tous les idoms du Jazz à lʼafro- cubain. Il a tourné avec les plus grands noms de la musique cubaine, tel que El Nino, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Carida Valdes, le groupe Havana Ensemble ( émanation du mythique Irakere ), Phelipe Cabrera, El Indio, Yaite Ramos, Tito Puente, Orlando Poleo et bien dʼautres. Installé en France depuis 2001, il a joué avec la crème de la scène française de Jazz, notamment Pierre De Bethmann, Giovanni Mirabassi, Felipe Cabrera, Nicolas Folmer, Mélanie Dahan et Jacky Terrasson, dont il fait actuellement partie du nouveau groupe. Darryl Hall
Né à Philadelphia, aux US. Musicien autodidacte, il a remporté en 1996, le premier prix de la Thelonious Monk International Bass Competition.
Darryl est à la foi virtuose et sensible et son profond enracinement dans le Jazz, le Funk et dʼautres musiques américaines, ont fait de lui un des bassistes incontournables de la scène internationale. Il a tourné avec, notamment, Lionel Hampton, Kirk Lightsey, Hank Jones, Mulgrew Miller, Ravi Coltrane, Jimmy Heath, Tom Harell, Abdullah Hibrahim, le big Band de Woody Herman et la fine fleure de la scène française, étant installé en France depuis le début des années 2000 comme Baptiste Trotignon et David El-Malek. Vincent Strazzieri
Né en 81 à Aix en Provence, Vincent est le plus jeune de lʼéquipe et comme les autres, il est un musicien naturel. Son instrument principal est le piano, mais il est aussi un excellent saxophoniste et contrebassiste !
Depuis son plus jeune âge, Vincent a été nourri au Jazz, ce qui fait de cette musique sa « langue musicale natale ». Il a déjà un parcours prestigieux, en tant que pianiste, ayant accompagné les grands saxophonistes Johnny Griffin, Jerry Bergonzi, mais aussi, Daniel Humair, Gene Perla, Rémy Vignolo, Ben Aronov, Fabien Mary. This is Jérôme Barde’s third album he has released under his name ( he has co-signed several albums with the French saxophonist Olivier Temime & The Volunteered Slaves ). Today, the guitarist is back at the head of the Jazztronautes with their album « SPINNING ».
This new project, as he defines it, is : » A travel diary covering many years of international peregrination and encounters. A“multidimensional” band with friends musicians from various cultural backgrounds I have regularly played with over the past ten years » : Irving Acao on saxophone and Lukmil Perez on drums, both from Cuba, French pianist Vincent Strazzieri and American bassist Darryl Hall.
With inspired original compositions and crafted arrangements, Jérôme proves once more to be an outstanding melodist. The version of the all-time standard “Sweet Lorraine” stands out as profoundly original. In A Poem for Martin and Habiba, the guitarist pays homage to two great pianists, Kirk Lightsey and Donald Brown, with whom he has recorded. Listening to their record as well as live in concert, people always notice and feel the musical bonds, the personal complicity and the great energy that unite the Jazztronautes !
Irving Acao
Born in Cuba, Irving is an outstanding saxophonist ( and excellent pianist too ! ) on the international scene. He has studied both instruments in the best music schools of Cuba. He is deeply roooted in Jazz music, with inspirations such as Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, to name a few. He has performed with giants such as Mc.Coy Tyner, Chucho Valdes, Michel Camillo, Roy Hardgroove, Danilo Perez. He settled in France in 2002 and has been working since, with some of the best french musicians such as Franck Amsallem, Mario Canonge, Mokhtar Samba, Stephane Belmondo, Nicolas Folmer and many others.

Lukmil Perez
Born in La Havana, Cuba, Lukmil is an exceptional drummer/percutionist, who has worked with the great cuban band Irakere, El Nino, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Carida Valdes, the Havan Ensemble, Tito Puente, Orlando Poleo and many other Latin Jazz stars. He settled in France in 2001 and has become the » first called « drummer of many great french and other international musicians, such as Jacky Terrasson, Giovanni Mirabasi, Nicolas Folmer, Mélanien Dahan, Pierre De Bethmann.
Darryl Hall
Born in Philadelphia in the US, he has won the first prize of the Thelonious Monk international competition in 1996. Darryl is a prominent bassist on the international Jazz scene and has worked with the greats Lionel Hampton, Mulgrew Miller, Kirk Lightsey, Hank Jones, Ravi Coltrane, Jimmy Heath, Tom Harelle, Abdullah Hibrahim, Woody Herman’s big band and others. He has been living in France since 2000 and curently works with the best french and international musicians, such as Baptiste Trotignon, David El Male and many others.

Vincent Strazzieri
Borned in Aix En Provence in 1981, Vincent is a brillant young piansit and as well as a fine saxophonist and bassist ! He has worked for many years, since a very young age, with the late great Johnny Griffin. He has alos played with Jerry Bergonzi, Daniel Humair, Gene Perla, Rémy Vignolo, Ben Aramov, Fabien Mary and many other fine french musicians.
